THE GREAT ECONOMIC STIMULUS – GAY MARRIAGE
Hold on Republicans… back off demonstrators… don’t protest gay marriage… you are looking at GAY MARRIAGE all wrong! Gay marriage may be the greatest and quickest short term economic stimulus package America needs right now!
The very BLUE state of California is about to be the beneficiary of roughly 55,000 lesbian and gay men getting married. Engagements, invitations, rings, party planners, flowers, halls and lots of food are an economic boom for several industries. With disposable income in their pockets, the roughly 55,000 gay couples slated to be married could spend a combined half a billion on weddings.
Memo to the Republican party- you are been thinking about this issue old school. Think money! Think offsetting the rise in gas prices through the never before seen windfall profits from tens of thousands of marriages in your state.
For decades, lesbians and gay men have only dreamed of walking down the aisle. We are like the Genie in the bottle, waiting to jump out and say “I do”. All this pent up desire and no place to go!
Let’s not forget the high profile and very wealth lesbian and gay men who will be making multi million dollar weddings. John McCain, you should walk Ellen down the aisle. This will guarantee your numbers going up in the polls.
Republicans be smart! Don’t let the blue state of California be the only state to benefit from this marriage windfall. There are millions of Americans living in your Red States, eager to marry. This is a twofer for you; a chance to create an economic boom in your state and a chance to grant equal status.
In times like these, with the price of oil going up, the weather creating havoc with our crops, and the housing market a disaster, look for the silver lining in this case; “the wedding bell blues” of millions of gay people across the county.
Republicans, you don’t have to love us or even come to the wedding! Be smart and remember the simple concept of supply and demand. The demand for gay marriage is here now… will the Red States help supply.. or will it be only the Blue States.
… and one last thought… congress doesn’t get to vote on this windfall profit!. Come join the greatest and quickest economic stimulus you weren’t looking to find- GAY MARRIAGE.
